Infectious Diseases - What’s Sex Got To Do With It?, Australia
August 4, 2007 – 11:50 am | posted in Sexual Health / STDsPharmacy Self Care has launched a new health promotion campaign covering one of the most common sexually transmitted infections - genital herpes.
The campaign, Sexually Transmitted Infections - Genital Herpes, has been proudly sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
Approximately 80 million people are affected by herpes worldwide and it is the second most common STI in Australia, with one in eight adults in Australia carrying the virus.
John Bell, Pharmacy Self Care’s Principal Adviser, believes this comprehensive package equips the pharmacy team with the education and practice resources to confidently address this sensitive and difficult issue. “It is important the pharmacy team has access to the highest quality health promotion resources and these campaigns provide that. The prevalence of genital herpes almost demands that pharmacy become more aware and more active in supporting their communities on this issue at the local pharmacy level,” he said.
The campaign package includes:
– Special edition of inPHARMation magazine;
– In-pharmacy team education storyboard;
– Healthfacts tear off consumer desk pad; and
– 2 x health promotion posters.
The health campaign package will be delivered to Pharmacy Self Care’s 2000 strong member network across Australia.
