Tests are negative again for West Nile Virus.
Results from 52 mosquito pools and 32 traps that were set statewide last week all came back negative for West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

That’s the word today from state environmental officials, though test results from one sample are still pending.

Officials continue to urge Rhode Islanders to avoid mosquito bites and to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.

The state Department of Environmental Management traps mosquitoes each week and tests them at a laboratory. So far this year, no mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile or for Triple E.
