Paper Discusses Prescription Drug User Fee Act Effects, Proposals For Reauthorization

“Reauthorizing the Prescription Drug User Fee Act: How are PDUFA, the FDA Budget and Drug Safety Related?” George Washington University Medical Center: The paper, released as part of the Rapid Public Health Policy Response Project, examines the current Prescription Drug User Fee Act and revisions FDA has proposed to Congress that would increase revenue and reform premarket and postmarket reviews. In addition, the report analyzes the user fees’ impact on drug safety and the agency’s budget and outlines proposals from legislators, advocates and the industry to improve drug safety (George Washington University Medical Center release, 4/12).
