Coronary Artery Diseases [CAD] is a condition of the heart where

arteries supplying blood to the muscles of heart are blocked. This

may result into chest pain (Angina Pectoris) leading to heart attack &

sudden death. These blockages which are deposits of excess fat may

develop silently from any age depending on the food habit, family

history and life condition of the individual. When a person gets

symptoms of chest pain due to the blockages, the problem has already

exceeded the alarming level.

Heart attack is a terminal event of the entire disease process with

a high mortality rate of more than 50% if not treated within required

time. Surgical procedure like by-pass & Angioplasty may provide temporary

solution but as recurrences are quite common. It is estimated that more

than 6 crore people suffer from heart disease in India and almost 80% of

them cannot afford these treatments because it is too expensive.
