Report Spells Out ‘rights’ On Diabetes Information, UK
March 27, 2007 – 7:56 pm | posted in DiabetesA further boost for the provision of information to people with diabetes has been provided through the publication of a report by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in association with Ask About Medicines Week and Diabetes UK.
The on-line report highlights the need for improved information provision in diabetes and identifies the need to help people with the condition piece together available information from a number of sources.
It is emphasised that everyone with diabetes has a right to expect:
– A personalised information prescription as part of their care planning process.
– Everyone involved in their care knows what information they have been prescribed, assuming the patient consents.
– Access to clear, consistent, accurate and up-to-date information to enable people to understand their condition and treatment options.
– Encouragement to seek information on medicines and other treatments by discussing their condition with a range of healthcare professionals and others.
