Response To Politician’s Inquiry Into Future Of Pharmacy, Royal Pharmaceutical Society Of Great Britain

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has submitted its response to the All-Party Pharmacy Group’s (APPG) Inquiry into the future of pharmacy which can now be found on the RPSGB’s web site.

The APPG, which has a membership of more than 120 MPs and peers, launched its Inquiry into the development of pharmacy services in primary and secondary care in England in June 2006. Its aim is to assess recent developments in pharmacy (including the new community pharmacy contract), to examine and highlight the challenges for the profession, policymakers, the NHS and other stakeholders in achieving pharmacy’s potential and to identify priorities in healthcare service development that could be met by pharmacy.

Other aims are to examine what actions need to be taken to realise pharmacy’s potential in healthcare (including legislative, financial, contractual and professional issues), to identify barriers to progress and to take evidence from a range of interested parties.

A report and recommendations for action by policymakers, the profession and other interested parties will be produced as a result of the Inquiry.
