Kaiser Family Foundation Updates Medicare Drug Benefit Resources, Releases ‘Snapshots’ On Health Insurance
November 16, 2006 – 12:06 pm | posted in Medical Devices- “Resources on the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit,” Kaiser Family Foundation: The Kaiser Family Foundation has updated its resources related to the drug benefit including a fact sheet with state-by-state Medicare drug plan characteristics; a drug benefit fact sheet that includes an estimate of the number of beneficiaries who will reach the so-called “doughnut hole” coverage gap; and the “Talking About Medicare” consumer guide, which is designed to help beneficiaries better understand the benefit. Kaisernetwork.org at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday will host a live “Ask the Experts” webcast about the Medicare drug benefit. The discussion will include acting CMS Administrator Leslie Norwalk; Judith Stein, executive director of the Center for Medicare Advocacy; and Juliette Cubanski, principal policy analyst at the Kaiser Family Foundation (Kaiser Family Foundation, 11/10).
- “Snapshots: Health Care Costs,” Kaiser Family Foundation: The Kaiser Family Foundation on Friday released two reports as part of the “Snapshots: Health Care Costs” series, which examines how key issues affect health care in the U.S. “Comparison of Expenditures in Nongroup and Employer-Sponsored Insurance” examines the differences in costs associated with individual, nongroup insurance and employer-sponsored insurance. “Illustrating the Potential Impacts of Adverse Selection on Health Insurance Costs in Consumer Choice Models” examines the sensitivity of health insurance premiums to enrollment shifts by high-cost members, a process known as adverse selection (Kaiser Family Foundation release, 11/10).
