Dr Augusto Garcia-Poma, Lima, Peru, evaluated 359 patients with a mean age of 58 years and a mean disease duration of 16 years.
Obese patients had a lower quality of life than overweight or normal weight patients. They also demonstrated significantly lower scores in both the physical and mental main components of the HRQOL Medical Outcomes Study Short Form.
